An artistic activation for Letter Holders  🧵 

Continuing on with my artistic vision of combining both my physical artworks with my digital artworks, I took into consideration the idea of an audio experience. This audio experience would have both the properties of a physical artwork (the cd itself, its packaging, and the method of experiencing) as well as the properties of a digital artwork (the online community of my genesis collection Letters and the end prize of a one of one digital artwork that is transacted and paired with a seed phrase and crypto wallet). Here enters the Misc. Tape.

Misc Tape, short for Miscellaneous Tape, features voice memos from myself and 12 songs that have played an important role in the last 6 years of my art making and personal life. Though the songs are simply for fun, the real reward is in the voice memos. In total there are 20 Misc. Tapes - where only one of them has a voice memo on it in which I verbally give out a seed phrase that will contain a digital one of one artwork I created. 

A snapshot of all genesis Letter holders was taken on May 16, 2022 at 12 pm EST. Out of this snapshot, 20 random Letter holders will be selected and contacted. Those 20 random holders will be shipped a Misc. Tape. All tapes contain original recycled drawings that decorate the outside of the case in which the CD is held in. All 20 CD’s have hand drawn details on them and inside each case you'll find a track list and a small note. Out of the 20 randomly sent Misc. Tapes only one will contain the specific voice memo with the seed phrase. I hope the 20 winners that are randomly chosen (and Letter holders as a whole) value this project as much as I do, embracing this Misc. Tape not only as an audio experience but as a physical sculpture, a cross medium experimentation, and personal connection between artist and collector.

"On some of the more out-of-the-way paths between the Northern Mountains and the swamps of the Eastern Forest, there have been sightings of a very peculiar vagabond. When approached, they say nothing. Nicknamed Horace, deriving from the term horror vacui and reflecting the creature's avoidance of empty spaces, the creature is constantly beset by flies. The only movement anyone has claimed to have seen from it was an unnaturally swift biting of one of the surrounding insects. Otherwise, it remains stationary. Extraordinarily, the creature has never been sighted in the same vicinity twice. Eyewitness accounts of Horace began after a freak thunderstorm struck the outlying areas of the Eastern swamps in the midst of a rare mana-coalescing event. Traveling through that area, at the time, was a messenger carrying letters intended for the leader of a nearby enclave. The messenger went missing after the event, leaving behind only his bag of letters. Strangely, there were traces of unknown magical origin on the items. Theories have surfaced suggesting that Horace was actually the missing messenger. The mysterious remnants of magic on the tattered letters, partly scorched by what could only have been lightning, allude to the genesis of this mysterious Character.
