Another week means another new update about v4! This post dives into how the dYdX v4 chain’s front end will work.

The web front end provides an intuitive and performant UI/UX for traders who do not wish to interact with v4 programmatically. dYdX is building three front-ends: a web app, an iOS app, and an Android app. We are also building Typescript and Python SDKs for power users/institutions.

dYdX will open source all front-end codebases and associated deployment scripts. This will allow for anyone to easily deploy the dYdX front end via their own domain/hosting solution! While only one deployment of the front end is needed for clients to use the web app, having multiple deployments will make v4 more decentralized 😎

In our most recent blog post, we shared information about the v4 system architecture at a high level. For this next iteration of v4 Deep Dives, we are sharing information about the Indexer!

A good way to think about the Indexer is as similar to Infura or Alchemy’s role in the Ethereum ecosystem. However, unlike Infura/Alchemy, and like everything else in dYdX v4, the Indexer is completely open source and can be run by anyone 🎉

- Raphael and Fig from Flipside shared that they're working on a research report via grants on ways to transition delegates from v3 to v4 effectively. Recommendations include validators use AuthZ via a UI to delegate their voting and proposal powers to delegates.

- @​AX07  proposed looking at liquid staking providers (eg: Stride) to further distribute stake weight to a wider pool of validators to further progress decentralized decision-making.

- @​ImmutableLawyer proposed looking at Distributed Validator Technology (DVT) platforms as a way to expand the validator set in a cost-efficient manner. .

**2️⃣ Research-based subDAO**
- @​ImmutableLawyer  shared that he’s collaborating with a few community members on a Research focused subDAO.

- This subDAO looks to research governance tooling in Cosmos, decentralized governance in general, legal research on entities, etc.

- Forum post dropping by the end of the month.

**3️⃣ Reducing thresholds for on-chain vote creation**
- To empower community development, @​0xCLR  shared that proposal thresholds were too high, and proposes to reduce these to 0.1% (1M DYDX) for the short timelock executor and 0.5% (5M DYDX) for the long timelock executor. He also proposes to reduce the long timelock quorum and minimum yes votes from 2% (20M DYDX) to 1% (10M DYDX). Starkware and merkle proposer thresholds as well as snapshot proposal thresholds stay the same.

Epoch 22 has concluded and Epoch 23 has started, below we outline some of the most significant data points from Epoch 22  🦔🦔

✅ In Epoch 22 there were 2,906 Unique Depositors, $30.2B in cumulative volume and $8.8B in Open Interest.  
✅ Net Deposits/Withdrawals has reduced in Epoch 22 by approx $49.9m and Unique depositors has decreased to 2,906.
✅ 3,200 unique wallets earned 2.7M $DYDX in Epoch 22
✅ The community voted to Increase Maximum Funding Rates (8h) to 4% and Fix the Data Bug in the v3 Perp Contract.

The community has voted to fix the V3 starkware data availability bug and to increase the max funding rate (8h) to 4%!

✅ 78.5M $DYDX - 63 addresses
❌ 682.6 $DYDX  - 1 address

The subject matter of this proposal fell under the Starkware Executor, which requires a 20M $DYDX threshold and a 5M $DYDX vote differential to pass.

Voting ended on Apr 23 (Sun) at 23:01 UTC, the proposal has entered the 2 day Timelock Delay. 

After the Timelock Delay, Starkware has a 7 day priority period to execute the proposal.

✅ Net Deposits/Withdrawals has reduced in Epoch 21 by approx $129m and Unique depositors has increased by 5.3%. 
✅ $DYDX Emissions has reduced by 1.3M.
✅ The community voted for a 45% reduction in trading rewards which came into effect in Epoch 21, with the extra 1.29M $DYDX accruing in the rewards treasury. 

Two Snapshot votes passed in Epoch 21;
1️⃣ Fixes to the V3 StarkEx contract data availability bug was approved by the community 
2️⃣ The community voted to change the governance platform from #Commonwealth to #Discourse. 

✅ dYdX Grants published an update on 3 grants that were funded. 
✅ Don’t forget if you hold $DYDX but don’t have time to participate in proposals, you can delegate to an Endorsed delegate. 
✅ The completion of Milestone 3 with the launch of the V4 private testnet 💪 
✅ Several improvements to the support function were rolled out, with faster response times, greater speed, more dedicated support and increased language focus.

We are back with another update regarding our progress building out the dYdX V4 Blockchain; we are excited to announce the completion of our third of five milestones!

The dYdX Private Testnet is planned to begin on 3/28/2023 and will last 2-3 weeks. Now that we have completed the technical implementation of this milestone, a limited number of validators will verify the functionality of this initial external testnet.  Over the course of these next few weeks, we look forward to working with these validators to test out various aspects of the network.

Due to extreme volatility, the initial margin fraction of MKR-USD is now 50%. The maintenance margin fraction is not changed.

On March 10th, our team noticed a higher than normal amount of fast withdrawal requests. Fast withdrawals are expedited slow withdrawals that come from a liquidity pool. This means that fast withdrawals may not be able to be processed if the pool is empty. The pool is replenished on a rolling-basis, around 12 hours after each fast withdrawal occurs. Due to the uptick in fast withdrawal requests, we are monitoring the liquidity pool in real time. The liquidity pool funds can be checked at https://api.dydx.exchange/v3/fast-withdrawals.

-dYdX will continue to function at any USDC-USD price.

-dYdX does not assume USDC = USD

-All positions, collateral, funding payments in USDC are worth less in USD terms in the event of a USDC depeg, just like any USDC held anywhere.

-Traders would not be liquidated as a result of USDC-USD price changes.

-Funding payments would continue to work as normal, with traders exchanging payments in USDC proportional to their USDC notional.
